The Routes

Dalby forest is another one of the
Forest Enterprise ventures with maintained
way marked routes, except this time Pace the fork/ frame
people have had a lot of input. It is located
on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Moors, 4 miles east
of Pickering off the A170 Thirsk to Scarborough road. As with Hamsterley Forest there are a
number of routes catering for different abilities from
family groups up to the most experienced amongst us.

The
Red route is approx 15 miles long and is bloody good fun,
mostly single track if you can believe that. I have only
ridden it after fairly long periods of dry weather and it
was still wet in some places but we live in Britain so we
have got to put up with it, but bare it in mind. The Black route loops off of the
Red route every km or so then joins back on a km or so
later.

After usually dropping or climbing in the best
possible way tight and steep usually with rooks and roots
thrown in for good measure and on one occasion a dead
Deer which could either be ridden over or around. I will not go into the routes in any depth as
they are very well way marked, if you want single track and you live any
where near or far then its defiantly worth the trip, the Reds very good, the
Black makes it even better.
I would suggest you take a lot of water and some food as if you get
carried away as I did and start racing around like a cat with mustard on its
arse because your having so much fun then you’ll soon get quite tired as its
hard work in places, although you wont notice until your half way around
your second lap.
