The course was yet again excellent. It started
off going down straight into a bus stop, then crossing a track into the
woods with the rootiest section I have ever ridden through. From there it
came onto a main track and dropped off down the rooty section from hell
again into another bus stop.
Once back out onto the main track you went down it flat out going through
a couple of bus stops on the way, It then cut right down 200m length of
single track scattered with roots and stumps followed by two very rooty left
hand corners.
You then crossed the main track again straight down a steep little drop
through some more tight rooty corners and dropped onto the next track, down
there about 25m and down another steep little drop avoiding the trees and
stumps, then a few more off camber corners. There was a 1m drop-off which
people were managing to jump a good 7 or 8m. Around the final corner to a
slightly up hill finish.
My first crash was coming into one of the steep drops in practice, not
realising it was still a bit icy I went straight over the bars and into a
roderdendrum bush leaving a large hole.
The second involving me and Craig was when I
hit a nasty root making myself go one side of the tree and my body commando
rolling the other only to get up quickly remove my bike so Craig could come
through and do exactly the same thing.
Sal for had as much luck, he had to bleed his brakes at 8 o'clock the
night before in a car park in Bridgenorth and then his chain snapped on his
first practice run. Thanks to the mechanic from Pearce Cycles this
wasn't a problem, nice one. Unfortunately even this could not compete with the
fact that Stace lives 20 minutes drive away from the shop running the series
and failed to pre-enter so as not getting a race at all. Bummer.

BRINGEWOOD 140101 Rd 2
The course was made up from three sections.
The first being fairly open wooded with lots of off-camber corners and
roots and stumps getting steeper towards the end, making it more tricky in
the greasy clay. The second section came from a fire road straight into a
rocky section with a couple of big drops and ice, towards the end more
off-camber rooty sections.
The third section was like a roller coaster with multiple lines through
tight trees getting steeper towards the end. The finish was down a steep
little slope over an 18" drop off and over a small slippery bridge. A
bloody good course, one of the best.
Worst crash of the day: Craig managed to knock off his helmet, whilst
still done up. Stace came down with all the usual beatings from a day out
riding. Stu put a hole in his leg and has a saucer size bruise. Everyone
else had the usual over the bars or off the side get offs.
Admin nightmare: this definitely goes to Alex for having to build his
bike when he got there to flat tyre at the transport a car that wont start
and not putting his race number on and not even getting a practice run in.
Repairs; Stace needed wheels truing after his
first run. Craig had problems with an anti rattle spring in his rear
brake. Sal snapped front brake lever. Dom managed to write off a stem and
bent his bars.
