Uplift 12 Nov 2006

Due to the fantastic success of the last uplift we're hosting another on the 12th Nov. Uplifting starts from 10am till 1pm - lunch for 1hr then restarting at 2pm finishing at 5pm - total of 6 hrs riding/uplifting. You should manage approx 15+ runs if you can get to the bottom quick enough..... You're dropped off in the top field right next to the entrance of the park which lets you get straight back on the courses with out any long rides or push to the start lines.
THE CAR PARKING WILL BE IN THE TOP FIELD AS PER LAST UPLIFT - FOLLOW THE SIGNS ON THE DAY.

There are many changes planned for the next uplift (and all future events) as we reinvest the profits from the uplifts & membership back into the infrastructure of the park. This is what we hope to have in place for the coming event;
*Improvements & training in first Aid*Purchasing of more hand tools and materials to build & maintain the courses*New lines/jumps/extensions to some of the existing trails*Specially designed trailer with loading ramps for the truck*Upgrading the uplift track*Investment in catering equipment so we can offer a wider range of food*A new huge 9 x 10 meter shelter at the entrance to the park *Two way radios for marshals and drivers*
Some of these things have already been completed - we're all giving up our free time to make everything else happen ASAP:)
Refreshments are available at lunch & during the day. We will definatly be offering various pasta dishes this uplift plus other home make cakes & fluffies (Umm cake......!) etc. Lunch will between 1pm - 2pm to give the uplift drivers a break.
The park boasts 4 downhill runs, a mini 'A line' style course, ladder jap jumps & drops, various single track runs and hoist of north shore sections. All trails have chicken runs around all the jumps & drops etc. The atmosphere is always informal and relaxed with all riding levels catered for. If you're new to the park there is always a core group of regular riders who will happily show you the trails (and where not to fall off!). It was also very refreshing to see an increased number of ladies attending the event last time. The uplift will be provided by the monster army truck & tractor + trailer/bike trailer- many enjoy the thrill of being powered up the hill in the 15ton beast as much as riding the park!

"Thanks to everyone who organised it, was a cool day and well worth the drive over from Kent. Uplift worked well, didn't have to wait longer than one truckfull. There's some really good trails, and plain to see that once you've got some more trailbuilding cash it's gonna be stunning. Awesome place you've built up, and the atmosphere was seriously chilled out. Cheers and cya soon."

Uplifts go from strength to strength
Due to the fantastic success of the last uplift we're hosting another on the 8th Oct. Uplifting starts from 10am till 1pm - lunch for 1hr then restarting at 2pm finishing at 5pm - total of 6 hrs riding/uplifting. You should manage approx 15 - 20 runs if you can get to the bottom quick enough..... You're dropped off in the top field right next to the entrance of the park which lets you get straight back on the courses with out any long rides or push to the start lines.

STOP PRESS! Car parking hopefully will be in the top field (where the uplift drop off point is). This should ease the congestion experienced in the car park on the last uplift. Please watch this thread or follow the signs on the day for details.
Refreshments are available at lunch which normally includes hotdogs, soft drinks, tea & coffee etc and could possibly include a big pasta special....... The sign in/lunch area is now held at the entrance to park next to the north shore 'Log Jam'.

Park Uplift 13th August
You missed a good one Tanker! Although I didn't get a chance to have a ride every one seemed to be having a great time? From a yorkie drivers of point of view the truck performed yet again fantastically - I think the numbers of approx 30 riders was about right for people to get straight back on the uplift once reaching the bottom - we managed about 20+ uplifts. Many commented on how great the park was riding and on the speed of uplift with a turn around time of about 15/20 mins (especially compared to a dragons race!). Found that driving the truck down in a higher gear and using the brakes saved about 50lts of fuel (or 1/4 of a tank....) ok in the dry but it will be safer to go down on the engine in the wet!
Putting admin/food tent next to log jam was really nice. Big thanks to Sumo, Ali, Chris, Flipper, Bart and others for sorting all that out. Parked the truck up in the woods next to log jam, cup of tea, hotdog - sorted!
Be great to see if we can get another uplift in before the weather turns - how about in three/four weeks time?
One other thing........... before leaving the park in the truck (with no one else around) I reversed the truck down the steep fire road (possibly the most arse twitching moment with truck so far!) then powered it back up. I will happily climb up in first gear using normal road gears. Put it in low ratio, six wheel drive with the diffs locked and it will stonk up there with trailer. The fire road does need some maintance & we obviously need the turning circles top and bottom - but the potential is there for a fast uplift with a ten minute turn around time taking approx 30+ riders & bikes each time........
